Expectation

I’m from this building

where kids drop out of school

@ 15, smoke weed &

gang bang & die at 18

everybody that’s over 30

are selling or doing drugs

& they expect me

to do something w/my life

we move to a hick town

just as bad

they smoke crack

& these crackers they hate blacks

they have sex & get pregnant @ 15

drink & drive, crash & die at 25

& they expect me

to do something with my life

18 I graduated high school

for the sake of my mother

9 months later I’m booked

for double murder

25 years was my cop-out

& the best thing I did in my life

was submit to Allah now this

is what I’ve made of my life
